About Mrs. Groll
"Variety is the spice of life"
"Work hard, play hard." I couldn't ask for a more loving and supportive husband, Matt, who helps get the kids off to school and supports me in so many ways in all my endeavors. I have three girls ages 13, 11, and 8, and one boy who is 12

Two phrases sum me up pretty well: "Variety is the spice of life" and our Groll family motto to "Work Hard, Play Hard." I have a wide range of interests. I love to travel. If asked where I would like to travel in the world, my answer is always anywhere and everywhere. I love anything associated with the outdoors. Whether it's hiking, biking, rafting, climbing, mountaineering, or camping- count me in! My husband and I have climbed 37 of the 50 state high points, the Grand Teton, and to the top of the Alps. I currently teach weightlifting and mixed martial arts classes for Gold's gym. I enjoy overcoming challenges and working to achieve worthwhile goals. I like to cook, craft, scrapbook, and stay active in my community. I love to read and to learn, and don't mind the quiet of my own company. I like to try new things, and I love a good adventure.

Books are the carriers of civilization. Without books, history is silent, literature dumb, science crippled, thought and speculation at a standstill.

I have always been drawn to the humanities. I graduated from Utah State University in 2002 with a Bachelors in English and a minor in History, and recently completed an additional Bachelors in Secondary Education. My goal as a teacher is to help students learn how to think, not what to think. Living in the information age, students today have access to a vast amount of knowledge at their fingertips. Knowing how to synthesize, interpret, analyze, apply, and evaluate such information in meaningful ways are the skills I hope students can build in my classroom. Being able to digest all of that information, develop informed opinions, and communicate and articulate those opinions clearly to others are useful tools that I believe will help my students in every subject area. I envision my classroom as a safe environment where students can feel free to express thoughts, ideas, and opinions, and construct their own views. I emphasize speaking and writing as focus skills in the curriculum. |
